Villatorres
Villatorres is a small town that belongs to the region called Norte de Jaén, appeared like a consequence of the merger between the towns Villargordo and Torrequebradilla carried out in 1975, together with the city centre of Vados de Torralba. Villatorres borders on , , , , and and it belongs to the legal jurisdiction of Jaén.
Most of its area is used for the olive cultivation, mainly irrigated ones. The presence of the fertile lowland in the Guadalquivir has favoured the cultivation of horticultural products, like the asparagus or spinach, these last dedicated to the canned fish industry. We also can find some example of industrial activity, specifically the piece of furniture manufacture.
In 1975 the towns of Villargordo and Torrequebradilla were merged.
In Villargordo there were found remains from the Roman Age. In 1555 Fernando de Torres y Portugal transferred a meadow to this town.
Torrequebradilla was head of the marquisate with the same name.
The naming of both towns gave rise to the place name of Villatorres.
