Villarrasa

Villarrasa stands some 36 km from Huelva, and belongs to the judicial district of La Palma del Condado, covering an area of 71.8 km2 and with a population of 2082 according to official figures from 01.01.1998.

The main industry is agriculture, particularly growing wheat, vineyards and olive groves. There are currently two types of agriculture: the traditional rainfed type, and intensively irrigated, recently introduced, for fruits such as kiwi and orange.

The industrial sector includes two metal, and three wood workshops, a small pre-cooked products industry, and "agribusiness" companies in the South.

On the outskirts a necropolis has been found from before the Christian era.

Its history is linked to the county of Niebla.

Monuments

Shrine of Ntra. Sra. de las Angustias, siglo XVI.

Church of Ntra. Sra. de los Remedios.

Gastronomy

The goat population provides good meat, which is prepared in traditional ways, such as popular dishes like lamb stew, or grilled over wood.

The spinach and chickpea stew, and traditional cakes ("roscos") that are prepared for the fiestas, are the highlights of the towns cuisine.
