The “Huelmeno” council consists of Ventas de Huelma and Acula.
Ventas de Huelma comes from the Arabic “wali’ma”, (a ‘get together’ or party), probably because of some recreational property on the site at the time of Muslim rule.
It is believed to be the geographic centre of the old district of El Temple.
