Turon
Turon is situated in the southeastern part of the Alpujarra Granadina (Granada province), about 114 km from the , in southeastern Spain. The town borders the Granadina municipalities of and and the in , and .
It appears that the Romans gave it the name of Turobriga and exploited its lead mines.
During the Muslim rule a thriving agriculture was developed. After the expulsion of the Moors in the late sixteenth century, these regions, as with others of the ancient kingdom of Granada, having become depopulated, were repopulated with settlers from Galicia, León, Asturias and Castilla.

Gastronomy
Typical of the town are embutidos (local sausages) as well other pork products and game dishes, to make up the Touraine culinary scene. They also produce almonds, figs, olives and vineyards. The gastronomic jewel of Turon is fig bread.
