The area in which is situated Torre Alhámique represents the transition between the Hollow of Ronda and the Sierra Subbética, made up by a group of rounded hills, in one of which is located the city centre of Torre Alháquime.
In the lower part of the village we can find Guadalporcún River towards , its natural vegetation turns this place a special place.
The City Centre is located in the top of a hill, and because of this the village is growing little by little, down the slope, taking advantage of the less rough areas.
The name of Tower Alháquime comes from the Arab family Al Hakin who had a fortress situated to four kilometres from the Olvera Castle. Above that place, there was a hill located to 495 metres above sea level in which a Nasrid leader became powerful in front of Christians troops in the North-East of Cádiz at the end of XV century.
The Tower of Al Hakin (that in Arab means "the wise" or "the lawyer") provoked the denomination of Tower Alháquime. In the ancient place of the tower-fortress was located the graveyard of the village. Around this Moslem fortress was growing the city centre where nowadays we can find the town of Torre Alháquime, and it was made in a peculiar manner, in a layout of concentric circles to maintain the slope.
