Fountain of the Eight Spouts

Situated in the Padre Jesús district, it is without doubt the best ornate fountain in the city, as well as being the only one from the city´s history that has survived until modern days.

Constructed entirely of stone, it possesses two fronts with two large troughs. Eight spouts of water, each one being decorated with stone rosettes, pour into the main trough whilst the rear trough serves as a drinking trough filled by the surplus water falling from the former. There are boxed rosettes on this side as well, although here their purpose is purely decorative.

The fountain is topped by a fronton, with four pinnacles and crowned by a cross. The spandrel is finished with the coat of arms of Ronda, flanked by two medallions that make reference to the construction of the fountain, undertaken during the reign of Philip V (during the first half of the 18th Century).
