La Concepcion Dam
La Concepción reservoir is located in Marbella, near Istán, on the Río Verde river and was built to solve the problem of water supply in the Costa del Sol West.
The reservoir mainly supplies the towns of Benalmadena, Fuengirola, Mijas, Benahavís, Marbella, Casares and Manilva

of 142 km2, has an average annual rainfall of 756 mm and an
average annual contribution of 75 hm3.

plant with two alignments, has a coronation length of 256
m, a foundations height of 89.55 m and a height above the
bed of 70 m.
Its spillway is front-centered in the dam body, with 3 openings
Taintor gates. Drainage of intermediate type, focusing
on the dam body with two channels of 2.50 x1, 50, with a flow
rate of 175 m3/seg.
The reservoir of La Concepcion has a capacity of 57 hm3,
a surface of 214 hectares and the length of river affected
