Morelábor
Morelabor lies within the region of Hoya de Guadix y Marquisado, in the province of . It consists of two population centres: Moreda (600 inhabitants) and Laborcillas (95 inhabitants). In 1974 these two were conjoined to form the town of Morelábor.
Moreda sits at the foot of the eastern slope of La Serrezuela, which is at an altitude of more than 1,300m above sea level, overlooking a landscape of alternating ridges and valleys, higher than any of these points.
Morelabor is surrounded by the municipalities of to the north, and to the east, to the south, and Pinar to the west.
The region being a border area during the Middle Ages, frequently suffered ‘cabalgadas’ by Christian soldiers, these were operations of harassment and violence that Spaniards stationed in Cazorla made on the Muslim lands of Guadix. They were also a preamble to the taking of Granada, which was to be conquered later by the Catholic Monarchs.

The gourmet meals that can be tasted in the town of Morelábor are ‘andrajos de liebre,’migas, las gachas, partridge and quail, kid with garlic and wine, and desserts of donuts and ‘borrachuelos.’

About 62km separate Moreda from Granada. Take the A-44 towards Almeria to the turnoff from the A-308. Pass Iznalloz. Follow signs to Moreda (Morelábor).
