Monachil
Monachil is situated in the south-central part of the Vega of Granada (province of Granada), about 8 km from the capital city of Granada, in southern Spain. It borders the municipalities of , , , , , and . Here you can find the ski resort of the Sierra Nevadas.
The earliest settlement of goes back to the Culture of Argar, within the Bronze Age, and is within a time period that extends from the year 1900 to 900 BC. The certainty of this Argaric past is shown by a series of deposits and remains, of which the most significant is the Cerro de la Encina, where there was an important settlement consisting of a village and a fort.

Directions
If you come by road, wherever your place of departure, your first destination and point of reference is the Granada ring road, Autovia A-44 Bailen - Motril.
Once on this road, and after skirting the city of Granada, the next reference point is Exit 135, Ronda Sur - Alhambra - Sierra Nevada.
If you wish to access the old town of Monachil (pueblo) or the Barrio de la Vega you will have to take the second exit towards La Zubia, leading to a roundabout from which you follow the second signpost to Monachil.
