Igualeja - Málaga - Valle del Genal
Igualeja is situated between the Serrania de Ronda and Sierra Bermeja in rugged terrain, among beautiful scenery and having abundant water. The lands are irrigated by the River Genal and its tributary El Seco. This is a pleasant place to walk along its channel formed by ravines, whose slopes are covered with pine and chestnut trees and on whose banks grow typical riverside vegetation, dotted with beautiful walnut trees. The main source of income is forestry and the annual crop of chestnuts.
The village is 700 metres above sea level and is 20 kilometres from Ronda and 142km from Malaga city. The average rainfall reaches 1,200 l/m2 and the average temperature does not exceed 13.5 ° C

Gastronomy
Spring is the time of the dishes with wild herbs such as golden thistle (tagarninas), fennel, collejas or asparagus. Throughout the year you can taste the mountain pots and various dishes of chickpeas, rabbit stews and a wide variety of dishes from pork.
The pastry largely keeps the memory of the Moorish tradition, being characteristic of wheat flour, sugar and olive oil combined in perfect harmony and flavored with cinnamon, anise and sesame seeds, and sometimes accompanied by almonds and walnuts.
Directions
From the Costa del Sol, Igualeja can be reached via the AP-7 (N-340) to San Pedro de Alcantara, and from here take the A-376 towards Ronda. About 12 kilometres before reaching Ronda, turn onto the MA-526, Igualeja is about 9km from here.
