Huelago
The village of Huelago is to be found at the western end of the Hoya de Guadix, 53 km from the .
The municipality is bordered to the north by the municipalities of Moreda, and , to the south by and Belerda, to the east by and to the west by Moreda.
has known human settlement from the early civilizations of prehistory in the Iberian Peninsula, as is attested by the numerous archaeological remains found in the environment. The town had no special significance, however, until the last period of Muslim rule as it lay along the border zone and often suffered the harassment of Christian soldiers stationed in Cazorla, as happened in the whole region. Huelago was conquered by the Catholic Monarchs on their march to , and later suffered the harsh consequences of the Moorish uprising, with repression and eventual expulsion from the region. The town came under several jurisdictions, such as the Commander Garcia de Arana, the Marquis de Villanueva de la Torres, and Senor Huelago y Fonelas, and one of the first incumbents, Baltasar Afan de Ribera, financed the construction of the church.
