Guarromán
Guarromán is located in the north-western area of Jaén, at the kilometre 282 of the Motorway of Andalucía.
In its entire municipal district we can find archaeological remains from the oldest civilizations, because it has been a stop-by place towards the plateau.
The Carthaginians were in these lands due to its silver and lead mines. In this area occurred the famous battle of Bácula. There were also found remains of the Roman Age.
From Visigoths we can emphasize the beautiful semi spherical bowl of Guarromán that nowadays it is in the Museo de Artes Decorativas.
Guarromán was founded in 1767 by Carlos III, like part of the Nuevas Poblaciones in Sierra Morena.
Monuments
Parish Church of La Inmaculada Concepción
From the end of XVIII century, it follows the model introduced in the other churches of the colonization. The façade, preceded a staircase, has a simple front round arch and it is ended in a belfry.

Pósito de Labradores
It was built in 1789 by the foreman of the Nuevas Poblaciones, Silvestre Gómez and Jacinto de Garaña. With a square floor-plan, it is divided into two naves by a central brick arcade, stabilized with wooden braces. In 1987 it was restored and used like a public library.
Guarromán keeps in its urban area the marks of the Enlightenment town planning, a grid design with the block of houses placed according to a geometric order. The most emblematic building, the church, arrange in order the urban design, preceded by a wide square, in which we can observe some examples of the domestic architecture in those days.
Aldea de los Ríos: a village founded in XVIII century that reproduces the model of the baroque European squares from that time. The two longitudinal lines on both sides from the main route, gets wider in the middle, having a little an octagonal square.
Gastronomy
The gastronomy of Guarromán is characterized by the using of ingredients in the region, essentially the olive oil. Between its specialities we can emphasize the Pipirrana de pintahuevos (a salad with onion, boiled potatoes, olives, boiled eggs, salt and peppers); the Asaíllo of Red Pepper, with roasted red pepper, olive oil, garlic and salt; in the proximity of Sierra Morena we can eat the asparagus Omelette de piedra, with a bitter taste; the Moje de Bacalao and the Gachas de Harina de Guija.
How to get there
You have to exit Jaén and continue in J-14. In the roundabout, take the exit 2 and continue in E-902 / A-44 towards Bailén - Madrid. You have to follow towards Exit 0 - Bailén – Madrid and then towards Madrid. Then take the E-5 / A-4 and the exit towards: Exit 283 - Guarromán. Follow the signals until you get the town.
