Fuente Vaqueros
Fuente Vaqueros can be found in the heart of the Vega Granadina (the Vega of Granada, vega being a fertile area, usually close to a river), irrigated by the waters of the river Genil, surrounded by groves of fertile fields with abundant crops. The surrounding area, dotted with cottages and small farmed lands, close to La Paz, with its simple hermitage, and Pedro Ruiz, also invite the poetic magic of a stroll through the shady poplars of the Vega and verdant groves of poplars, lulled by the eternal flow of water through the irrigation dykes.
has a common history with many other regions of the Vega of Granada, settled since ancient times, living through the great time of Elvira and the splendour of the Nazarite court, through the Christian conquest and the wars against the Moors, which led to their inevitable expulsion from the Vega.

In Fuente Vaqueros you can find hornazo (oil cake with a boiled egg and sesame seeds) prepared for ‘merienda’ (a sort of afternoon tea) of San Marcos on April 25, kid in sauce, scrambled green asparagus, ‘leche pava’ (pumpkin soup with garlic , oil, oregano and salt), pepper and tomato soup, soup ‘maimones (almond bread), ‘papas en gloria’ (with vinegar and oil), vegetable and asparagus omelet, migas with chorizo and asparagus, snails in sauce, and wine donuts, among others.
Directions
The town of Fuente Vaqueros is located only 17 km. from the capital, midway between the road from Cordoba and Seville, and well connected from both. The N-432 can be reached by a branch road that is taken between the towns of Atarfe and Pinos Puente. More direct is the way that runs via the A-92, towards the airport of Granada. From here there are two accesses to Fuente Vaqueros. First, in Sierra Elvira, take the exit towards Fuente Vaqueros in the direction Santa Fe, running through the industrial area La Fuente and Pedro Ruiz to reach the town. The second access from the A-92 is taken right in front of the airport, direction Chauchina-Fuente Vaqueros, a local road that runs through the village of Chauchina finally reaching Fuente Vaqueros.
