Frailes
Frailes is located in the region of Sierra Sur, to the south-east of it, where is abundant the mountain with livestock farmer dedication, that shapes a natural space in very good condition with pastures and holm oaks. The privileged weather of , with chilly summers, incites to enjoy of the nature. The worked lands are the olive grove, although in the fertile lowland of the River Frailes is abundant in fruit trees and the garden cultivations. The agrarian activity is the main richness source of Frailes and inside it, the olive grove and the cattle. In this last, we can emphasize the goats.
There were famous the springs of hydrosulphurous cold waters in Los Frailes and La Rivera, nowadays disappeared.
In this town Condestable Lucas de Iranzo prepared his troops for the conquest of Moclín.
In 1495 it was called Arrabal Exterior or Nava de Frailes and depended on Alcalá la Real.
In 1835, it was separated of the jurisdiction of Alcalá la Real, although he had tried several times at the beginning of the century.

Gastronomy
The cuisine in Frailes is marked by the serrano nature of the town, with especial presence of the pork products like the traditional black pudding, chorizo, spiced sausage and the rest by-products. We can emphasize the stews like the vegetable soup of beans, la ropavieja, the fried breadcrumbs or the encebollado, and others like the omelette of collejas and cardillos (golden thistles) or the remojón, with land ingredients.
Among the desserts we have to mention the mantas, the borrachuelos, the polvorones (light, crumby shortbread) and the morello cherries with brandy. All the foods go with high quality wines of this area and that it is a reason of festive days all years in the town.
How to get there
You have to exit Jaén and continue through the Motorway A-6050. Turn left in JV-226 and then turns right in J-2340. Then you get Frailes.
