Espelúy
Espelúy is located in the centre west area of La Campiña. The town is divided into three very little city centres, having a flat geomorphology, under the influence of the River Guadalquivir, where the whole territory is a worked irrigated lands. The agriculture is the main economic activity of , which is divided between the olive grove and the herbaceous cultivations of the fertile plain in the river; among them we can emphasize the maize, the cotton and the fodders. The train station of Espelúy, that in the past was an important railway junction and of employment, has lost its importance in favour of the ones of and Linares-Baeza.
For some historians it was the Roman villa of Silpia, famous during the expeditions of Escipión in the Peninsula.
From the al-Andalus Period we can observe the castle, in very good condition.
The Christian conquest was carried out by the king Alfonso X that later it would pass to Earl Santisteban.

How to get there
You have to exit Jaén and continue via J-14. In the roundabout, take the exit 2 and continue in E-902 / A-44 towards: Bailén - Madrid. Take the exit towards: Exit 18 - Villargordo - Mengibar. You have to continue towards Mengíbar. Take the Motorway A-6000 and continue through the Motorway A-313 towards: Mengíbar. You have to cross Mengíbar. Take the Motorway A-6075 and you get Espelúy.
