Aurora Chapel

Aurora Chapel - LebrijaThe Aurora Chapel is located in C/ Castaño (street), near the España Square and the Town Hall, in the Andalusian town of Lebrija.

The Aurora Chapel has its origin in the bosom of a fraternity that worshipped the Virgin of La Asuncion, located at the former Puerta de Sevilla, next to España Square. In 1717, the sculpture of the Virgin was moved to this Baroque-style chapel. The facade attributed to a local artist, is divided into two parts and is basically made of bricks. It has a fired clay Virgin in the upper niche and it is crowned with a belfry from the beginning of the 18th century. The Church consists of a single nave and it is covered by a wooden coffered ceiling.

The 18th century high altarpiece is attributed to the Navarro School and houses the Virgin of La Aurora. The lateral niches are occupied by San Juan Evangelista, made by the same school, and the Baroque-style Virgin of La Victoria.
