El Valle
Formed by the villages of Melegís, Restábal and Saleres, El Valle can be found at the foot of the heights of los Canjorros in Lecrin Valley, Granada.
The villages are of Moorish urban structure, although probably their origins are even earlier. The location of El Valle in the Lecrín Valley made the town the protagonist of historical events that took place during the War of the Alpujarras (1568), which caused the depopulation of this part of the Lecrin Valley after the defeat and expulsion of the Moors. In the early nineteenth century there was another population exodus, this time due to lack of infrastructure to exploit the natural resources of the region.
Similarly, the mid-twentieth century, with widespread emigrations from Andalucia, El Valle suffered a major setback in its demographics.
