Coín is located South of the Guadalhorce Valley, 38 kilometres from Málaga and at 210 metres above sea level. The annual average rainfall is 610 l/m2 and the average temperature is 17º C.
Coí borders with Monda, Guaro, Alozaina, Pizarra, Cártama, Alhaurín el Grande and Mijas.
The historic development of Coín is carried out from its old Moslem village, and because of this we can describe its old quarter like a great neighbourhood. Coin is a spring of light, a paradise of water, centre of all the activities in the region of Guadalhorce and with the title of city from the beginning of the century, this city attract for its peculiar beauty and its excellent location.

Gastronomy
In Coín we can find dishes such as cachorreñas soups, the stew, the gazpachuelo, the pepper and tomato soup known as "sopa poncima", the mojete (a dish with potatoes, meat, egg, clams), the golden thistle omelette, just as different kinds of vegetable stews which are more typical in winter.
As regards its sweets we can emphasize the baked sweet potatoes, oatmeal porridges in syrup, ring-shaped pastry, raisins in brandy, block of dried figs and seasonal fruits.
How to get there
Coín has four approach roads from Costa del Sol, but the most used is the one that starts from the City of Málaga by the Motorway A-357 (towards Campillos). By this road you arrive to Cártama, and at a short distance of this village you have to take the Motorway A-355, which leads you to Coín. Likewise you can get Coín from the road N-340. It is equidistant between Torremolinos and Málaga and it is properly signposted the deflection towards the Motorway A-366, that firstly it goes through Churriana, Alhaurín de la Torre, Alhaurín el Grande and, finally, through Coín.
The other two approach roads depart from the Mediterranean Motorway (N-340). One of them is located to few kilometres from Benalmádena (A-368), and you have to arrive firstly to Mijas and then you have to take the Motorway A-387 towards Alhaurín el Grande, where it links with the Motorway A-366, which goes deep in Coín. From Fuengirola (another of the approach roads) you have to take the Motorway A.-387 until you arrive to Mijas, and from there you have to make the same previous trip.
