CASA RURAL (COTTAGE)
FUENTE OBEJUNA - CÓRDOBA - ANDALUCÍA - SPAIN
The house was built in the late nineteenth century, located in the municipality of Fuente Obejuna in the northern province of Cordoba. It stands at an altitude of 726 metres, and is surrounded by a spectacular oak woods. Its situation, in the center of the Alto Guadiato, means it is very well connected, being equidistant from the towns of Fuente Obejuna, Belmez and Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo and only 20 km from the natural park of the Sierra de Hornachuelos.
It is located in a spot with a beauty still unsurpassed amongst the few places in the landscape that remain untouched in terms of overcrowding and the character of its inhabitants.
The house was built with materials typical of the era; stone, brick and mud walls, with a structure of wooden poles covered with poplar and pine.
After an extensive restoration that lasted a year and a half, the house became known as a Casa Rural (Cottage), taking the nickname of the first owner El Coronel (Colonel). Steeped in history it has become a reference point for the area, becoming one of the most important in the province of Cordoba, and being listed by the Junta de Andalucia as Categoría Superior (Higher Category). It was the first in Cordoba to apply for and receive this status. It has been visited by numerous celebrities and countless real lovers of authenticity, exceeding all expectations of a rural home. Due to its unique character many local events have been held in the house, such as the fiesta del pan, development group meetings, performances, etc...
