Chiclana de Segura
Chiclana de Segura is located to the North-western area of Jaén, and at 150 km. from the capital, it has an area of 238'55 km² and it is at 850 metres above sea level. It is part of the judicial body of Villacarrillo and it has added the annex of Campillo, Camporredondo, Mochuelos and Porrosa.
It is a town at the east of the region El Condado, bordering on the region of Segura de la Sierra and the province of Ciudad Real. It has forest territory, in the north area, in a third part of its area. The third south part is basically formed of olive groves and it marks the economic activity that is agrarian a hundred per cent, together with the ranching, the hunting and the forest works complemented to the olive grove. The mountain area is formed of conifers reforestation, coexisting with areas of thicket that has a huge natural interest thanks to its spots, the flora and fauna, emphasizing the river environment and the reservoir of the Guadalmena and the richness of the big and small game.
With the Christina conquest it belonged successively to the Kingdom of Toledo, to the Orden de Santiago, the Chancillería de Granada, the Obispado de Cartagena and the Gobernación de Segura de la Sierra, and it was capital and head of the Encomienda de Montizón-Chiclana.
Regarding the topographical connections of the Pueblos de España, ordered by Felipe II, it refers to this like one of the oldest villas in the kingdom.
During the Independence War the town was destroyed and most of the inhabitants stabbed.
In 1838, the Carlist troops devastated this region.
The springs with ferruginous water provoked the old spas La Higuerilla and El Pipe.

How to get there
Chiclana de Segura is to 150 kilometres from Jaén, from where you can arrive through the J-14 and continuing through the Motorway A-44, taking the exit 3 towards Bailén. Once you stay in the road N-322 towards Linares, we have to link with the Motorway A-312 and the J-6230, and following the road J-6240, you have got to Chiclana de Segura.
