The town of Castilleja del Campo is located to the west of the Guadiamar River, in the far western of Sevilla, being bordered by the de Huelva. Its population in 1996 amounted to 653 inhabitants. The village sits on the northern slope of a hill, occupying the highest point of the parish church.

From the Roman era there were found numerous archaeological remains such as pottery, tombs, mosaics and small bronze sculptures, made us to think in a Roman origin.

During the period of Al-Andalus, it had several farms and was a major point of defence against incursions to defend the Christian and chieftain of Huelva.

During the XVIII century it belonged to the field of Texada that becomes so important that Sanlúcar la Mayor dispute the supremacy of the region.
