Cantillana - Sevilla
Cantillana is a town located in the centre of Sevilla province, on the right bank of the Guadalquivir River and to the left of Viar, a tributary of the former.
Cantillana Township bounded on the north with El Pedroso and Castilblanco de los Arroyos; on the south by Brenes, Carmona and Villanueva del Río y Minas, on the east with the latter town and Tocina and west with Burguillos, Brenes and Villaverde del Río. It is located 61 metres above sea level.
The municipal district covers an area of 107.8 km2. Its three-quarters are flat and a saw located in north-west, formed by the foothills of Sierra Morena. From the plateau where the village is nestled we can see the vast countryside which stretches to the vicinity of Sevilla. Its land is good and plentiful of crop fields of cotton, corn and sunflower, olive and fruit trees.
The municipality is composed of a core and several smaller entities of population: La Monta, La Estación, El Cerrado de Miura and Los Pajares.
The origins of this town date back to the era of polished stone, as evidenced by abundant archaeological remains appeared at the confluence of the Guadalquivir with El Viar and elsewhere in the area.
