San Sebastián Parish Church
Cañete la Real - Málaga
The parish church of Cañete la Real, dedicated to Saint Sebastián was built during the 16th century – although the current temple is a big remodelling carried out by Diego Antonio Díaz in 1770. It consists of three big naves separated by Tuscan columns and round arches that support the vaults and domes. Inside its walls, the church conserves several altarpieces – the main one comes from the convent of San Francisco -, a baptismal font dating from the 15th century and the image of the patron saint – our Lady of Caños Santos. It has three different facades: two simple ones and a baroque stoned front that dates back form 1740. The bell tower is inspired on Seville architecture.
