Barbate - Cádiz

Barbate is located in the province of Cádiz and it is a fishing town in the vicinity of Cabo de Trafalgar. There are three districts in Barbate: Zahara de los Atunes, Caños de Meca and Zahora, which, as a whole, it has more than 20 kilometres of beaches, many of them still virgin, with thin and golden sand and crystal clear water.

In Barbate we can find the Nature Reserve of Breña and Marshes of Barbate.

In the archaeological sites found in Barbate we can observe that human presence in these lands goes back to Prehistory. Although it is assumed that the first settlers of the coasts in Barbate knew and made the most of the richness of its coast, the Phoenicians were the first who exploited these resources in an organized way and the ones who through the tunny fishing system and the salted fish turned Barbate into an exporting centre known in all theMediterranean.
